2021
We received a very special card from Family and Children Services.
It really makes what we do worthwhile. 💙
On behalf of The Build A Bag Angels, Donors and Volunteers we thank you
for giving us the opportunity to give back to our community.
This year we were able to put together 172 back packs and also adopted
a young family in our community this Christmas. We are proud to support
Family and Children's Services of Waterloo, and Healing of the Seven
Generation Indigenous Youth and Children's Program. We thank everyone
for their continuous support in our little charity.
We are already planning for 2022.
From our house to yours we wish you all a
very Merry and Safe Christmas.

Theses boys did better then a Hat Trick.

A Special Thank you to my granddaughter and #1 volunteer
Théalyn-Lee Therrien. Théalyn has been volunteering with
The Build A Bag Angels since she was four. The reason
we put a stuffed animal in ever backpack is because of her.
When asking at the age of four what I was doing with all
the backpacks, I tried to explain the best I could. Her
response, with a heart the size of Montana, was "Oh mémé
if kids can't be with their moms and dads at Christmas
they need a Stuffie. All Kids Need A Stuffie!"
My eyes filled with tears and what a teachable moment
that was, FOR ME! So no matter the age of the child that
gets one of our backpacks it will have a Stuffie in it.
She has dedicated countless hours helping in whatever way
she can for the charity. Her dedication as a volunteer
is an inspiration to others. Théalyn, with my deepest gratitude
for your commitment to service, I am so PROUD of you,
I Thank You and on behalf of The Build A Bag Angels and
the children we serve. #buildabagangels

Wearing Purple on Oct. 27
Looking good ! :-)
Don't Forget to wear Purple on October 27th
for Child Abuse Prevention Month 💜
www.oacas.org/dresspurpleday/
For many years,
October was
Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month in Ontario.
Children's aid societies used the month to help the community understand their role in
keeping children safe from abuse and neglect.
This focused on the signs of abuse and neglect and stressed the
"duty to report".
But while the campaign raised awareness, it also
"came with a price" states
Nicole Bonnie, CEO, Ontario Association of Children's Aid Societies.
"Vulnerable and marginalized families - especially from the Black and African Canadian community -
have told us that the campaign's emphasis on reporting led to an unwarranted increase
in surveillance of their families and communities...
I'm proud that our new campaign direction reflects our commitment to equity and addressing
the over-representation of Black and Indigenous children and youth in child welfare."
#DressPurpleDay focuses on supporting children, youth, and families facing challenges
and ensuring access to the supports, information, and resources they need.
You can read
Nicole's whole statement at the link below.
We hope you will join in on
October 27th, #DressPurpleDay, and make a video or post a selfie
and tell the community that you are #HereToHelp Don't forget to tag us!

Hi Dondra,
Children, youth and families involved in the child welfare system
have been struggling since the COVID-19 pandemic was declared.
For over a year, we've been working tirelessly to ensure their
most urgent needs are met. Thanks to our generous donors, we're
making a difference in the lives of those in the most vulnerable
situations, like TIFFANY.
"You are truly amazing to support us youth during this hard time.
Having no family around, no one to ask for help or to ask for
financial support was scary. It made me cry receiving the grant.
Thank you, thank you."
- TIFFANY, former youth in care and funding recipient

In honor of INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY, the students, faculty and
everyone that they could get on board at St.Benedict Catholic Secondary School
in Cambridge are working hard for our Teens.
They will be collecting Period Products for the month of March and
donating them to The Build A Bag Angels Teen Outreach Project.
We are truly blessed to have this group of amazing people backing our little charity
